Advanced Interactive Realities Group - Virtual Reality Facilities
The Virtual Reality Visualisation Centre, in the department of Creative Technologies at the University of Portsmouth, has a range of virtual and augmented reality systems that can be combined to create interactive realities and immersive scenarios; where users can interact with real and virtual objects at the same time. The technologies range from large-scale immersive projection systems to smaller desktop haptic feedback devices. However, the common theme amongst all of these is the ability to create a sense of 'reality' that a user can experience and interact with.
The Virtual Reality Visualisation Centre represents a worlds first for its innovative use of technology to create a flexible and adaptable environment. This is being extended with new interface developments to solve practical real world problems.
The facility was installed in conjunction with Virtalis.
